Dr. Mathusek, originally hailing from the Dominican Republic, earned her Medical degree with honors from the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo. Her journey in pediatrics led her to complete her residency at Lincoln Hospital and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, NY, affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical School in 2012. Dr. Mathusek has since held various pediatric roles, including mentoring medical students and resident trainees.
Currently, she is pursuing her degree from the American Board of Obesity Medicine, with a special focus on Childhood Obesity. Dr. Mathusek resides in Chapel Hill with her husband, three children, and their beloved pet fish named Koi. Her interests include reading, dancing, spending time with her children, and immersing herself in nature. As a native Spanish speaker, she is committed to providing care in multiple languages. Her favorite quote, inspired by Dr. Seuss, encapsulates her philosophy: ‘You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
