Dr. Florez began his medical journey at the University of Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia, where he discovered his passion for pediatrics and child health. He completed his pediatric residency at Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) in Staten Island, New York, where he served as chief resident. During his residency, he was actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students—an experience that deepened his dedication to both education and patient-centered care.
After residency, Dr. Florez practiced pediatrics for four years in a high-volume clinic in Queens, New York. There, he cared for a diverse population of children with a broad spectrum of medical needs, gaining extensive clinical experience in both preventive and acute pediatric care.
Now practicing in North Carolina, Dr. Florez is committed to building long-term relationships with families in his community. As a bilingual physician, he emphasizes clear communication and cultural understanding, believing that children thrive when they receive consistent, compassionate care from someone who truly knows them. His approach to medicine includes guiding families through the many aspects of childhood development—from nutrition and emotional well-being to managing screen time and modern lifestyle challenges.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Florez enjoys reading, continuous learning, and staying active. He is also a devoted father, raising three children of his own, which gives him a personal perspective on the joys and challenges of parenting.
