Dr. Jernigan is a board-certified pediatrician and native of Jacksonville, NC. He attended East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine before training in pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. He has practiced for over 13 years in eastern and western North Carolina. He has served in medical leadership at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC as well as serving on local boards in the Wilmington area. Dr. Jernigan has a special interest in children with special health care needs, having previously run a nationally recognized clinic for children with special needs. He also teaches for the UNC Scholl of Medicine Department of Pediatrics having won multiple regional and state-wide teaching awards.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Jernigan enjoys building legos, fishing in-shore, near-shore and off-shore, playing guitar, volunteering at his church and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Tracie, have two sons and two golden retrievers.
